Umgeni Steam Railway is a non-profit organisation, dedicated to the preservation of railway heritage in South Africa. Trains run from Kloof to Inchanga return on the last Sunday of each month for the public to share the experience of railways past, and also to raise funds for ongoing and new projects. The trains have been lovingly restored by enthusiastic volunteers. It is a lovely scenic route and the carriages are comfortable.
The historic Inchanga Station was a staging spot from which English soldiers disembarked to go to their fate on the Boer War battlefields via ox wagons.
The Inchanga Conservancy run a Craft Market at the Inchanga Station every time USR run a train. Craft goodies, food and refreshments are always for sale on the train days. Visit our website for train running days and the wonderful Christmas Carol Run.
