This carer has a wealth of experience in caring since 1996. Mildred Mazibuko (n’Tombie) was born in 1967 and has qualifications in Home Nursing, First Aid, ABC Baby Care Training and basic ambulance assistance training. Her English is excellent as is her health.
Her CV and plentiful references reflect the quality of the care from n’Tombie. She stays with her charges throughout their period of necessary assistance, for typically 4 years. For families preferring to keep parents in their own homes rather than unsettling them by moving them to care centres, this carer is a good choice. She is intelligent and caring by nature and so deals with her charges with insight and humanity. There are good conversations where it is possible and the labels ‘friend and helper’ have been used by many of the families we spoke to. The days vary with activities her charges find acceptable, including walks and board games or a chair placed in a pretty spot outside and where possible a freshly picked bunch of flowers livens a room. Everything said reflects a carer who enjoys what she does.
We have been asked to display the details of a number of carers. n’Tombie is the only one we are listing in the upper Highway area and we do so with considerable confidence. Something that was raised by many families was the fact that n’Tombie is able to take the initiative where necessary. If the cleaner does not arrive, she does not sit back and say that is not my job… she gets on with it and when asked, she will say that she could not have her charge in a dirty house. If she is unhappy with her charge’s health, she contacts the right people to check. She looks after animals well as well. A genuine bond develops between her and her charges. It is one of mutual respect. There has never been any hint of anything but honesty.
